The Wolves of Welton

A Single-Session Adventure For Parties of 2nd-3rd level

It’s been a long time since the people of Welton have worried about anything but sheep ticks and late frosts, but now a pack of strangely determined wolves are spiriting away entire flocks at a time and driving farmers from their fields.

With food running low and their sorcerer-in-residence nowhere to be found, the village council send out a desperate plea for brave adventurers to destroy the beasts.

Is the job as easy as a walk in the woods, or is there more to the Wolves of Welton than mere animal cunning? There’s only one way to find out…

Fun quest but be careful, the reward of 100gp per councilmember can be a bit too much at this level

Just DM’d this yesterday for my group and they loved it. Great adventure. They ended up helping with negotiations which got me thinking, have you written anything in Welton’s future? I’d love to have my players check back in on Welton in a few years.

should I do this for my group? I’m 12, in 7th grade, with a group of other middle schoolers. this will be my second time dm’ing, and I want some opinions on wether I should do this or not

This is a great little adventure and I used it early in our campaign – putting Welton as a random little side town not too far away, so it was a side quest sort of thing.

Is this right for you? Hard to say – Your skills as a story teller and knowledge as a player will help you, of course. You may need to lead your players by the nose a little bit as it has some mystery/puzzly aspect as your players must figure out what’s causing the problems. If you are looking for a dungeon crawl, though, this isn’t it. It’s a little heavier on the RP and figuring things out than just murder hoboing through a place to find loot. The rewards are more the experience (in and out of the game) than trinkets.

Do you think your players will be into this? How about you?
